<Rintaran> 9:30pm. Yeehaw?
<@scshunt> yeehaw
<@scshunt> if we don't get a third, we're going to do some talking anyway :P
<Rintaran> Sure. We can give it a go I guess.
<Rintaran> Any word from Vulliez. He promised to attend tonight...
<@scshunt> not yet
<Rintaran> Well, it looks like we're not going to be joined. Let's do what we can for tonight.
<@scshunt> Ok
<@scshunt> basically I think at this point we should be planning transition onto the next exec, whoever they are
<@scshunt> which means tidying the mess
<@scshunt> I think the biggest thing that needs to be done in the near term is getting a list of every computer
system and account and who has access
<@scshunt> and getting access if necessary, so that we can hand that access off
<Rintaran> Well, I've managed to gather access to YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
<Rintaran> I have access to the mass e-mail system, the wordpress that controls the main site, and the wiki.
<Rintaran> That's about it at this point.
<Rintaran> I don't know how many have access to the wordpress, but it seems a number of people that haven't been
involved for a while might. Jake posted recently.
<@scshunt> I think at the very least we need access to the CRM and root access to the machine SB runs off of
<@scshunt> although I don't really intend to use SB at the next meeting
<Rintaran> I suppose I have some access to the CRM. That's the mass e-mail bit.
<Rintaran> But I only have a rudimentary understanding of how to use what's there.
<Rintaran> Almost everything is under Nuitari's purview.
<Rintaran> Getting access to send out the vote e-mail, and tracking down YouTube and Reddit logins were like pulling
teeth, but I have it all.
<@scshunt> cool
<Nuitari> Hi
<@scshunt> Hey
<Rintaran> Hey Stephane.
<@scshunt> We don't actually have a quorum, apparently
<@scshunt> but we were talking about the transition
<@scshunt> Are there any computer systems under the Party's control that you don't have root to?
<Nuitari> no
<@scshunt> Ok, that's good
<@scshunt> Any chance we can get access to the CRM?
<@scshunt> Also can I get access to the SB machine so that I can verify users at the next meeting?
<@scshunt> I don't really intend to use Stenobot, but I would like to be able to verify members
<Nuitari> sure
<Nuitari> for the SB machine
<@scshunt> Will you be around to pass off the IT stuff to the new IT director
<@scshunt> ?
<@scshunt> I've had one or maybe two guys email me with interest
<@scshunt> Also someone emailed about translation
<Nuitari> yes
<@scshunt> do we have any procedures we need to do to set him up as a translator?
<@scshunt> other than get him onto the translators alias?
<Rintaran> Technically no, however I am also maintaining an individual list of translators.
<@scshunt> Ok
<Rintaran> By using the mass translator list, every translator assumes the next one will be doing the translating,
and nothign gets done.
<@scshunt> Mark Keegan; mark@keegan17.ca
<Rintaran> Alright, I'll add him to my list.
<@scshunt> I'll forward you the email
<Nuitari> ok
<Rintaran> I currently have three others on my list: Daniel LaSalle, Rejean, and Will McClafferty
<Rintaran> I'll forward their contact info to you via e-mail.
<@scshunt> thanks
<@scshunt> can you think of anything else?
<@scshunt> I don't think there's much to do now except try to make the landing as soft as possible for the new guys
<@scshunt> maybe if we have the time, write down as much as we can about the party's operations
<@scshunt> an institutional memory would be useful
<Rintaran> Afraid a lot of that is probably all sitting on Stephane's shoulders. He's basically been doing everything
that the Executive Board will be spreading around.
<Rintaran> Should make things a fair bit lighter on him in the future.
<@scshunt> yeah
<@scshunt> I do want to clean the wiki up a bunch
<@scshunt> try to remove misinformation
<Rintaran> Shouldn't be overly much remaining of that. May be some in the older articles.
<Rintaran> Haven't looked at the older stuff for quite some time I'm afraid.
<Rintaran> There's always lots of new stuff creeping up.
<@scshunt> yeah
<@scshunt> We should also put a list of all known accounts on the wiki, with people known to have access
<@scshunt> (obviously don't put the actual accounts there)
<@scshunt> (err, accesses)
<Nuitari> ugh, the wiki is a mess
<Nuitari> it does show when a system doesn't have security as a base...
<@scshunt> yeah, we do need to fix that too
<Nuitari> 15
<Nuitari> maybe another wiki software would be better
<@scshunt> possibly, I'm not attached to mediawiki in any way
<@scshunt> alternatively make the content a git repo, and have the site just render it
<Rintaran> Pretty much all the edits and new pages from the past month or so are via me.
<Nuitari> either way it's up to whoever will handle the wiki
<Nuitari> for the CRM
<Rintaran> Mikkel used to poke in every now and again, but it's hard doing much as just one person.
<Nuitari> I want to be sure that whoever has access to it can be trusted and knows what to do with ssh properly
<@scshunt> The secretary basically needs access
<@scshunt> and the IT guy
<@scshunt> full access can probably stop there
<@scshunt> oh, that's another thing we should look at
<@scshunt> what's up with memberships?
<Nuitari> meaning?
<@scshunt> lack of renewal emails and whatnot
<@scshunt> everyone was extended to April?
<@scshunt> hmm... also, I've heard rumbling about dropping/eliminating the membersihp fee. Maybe we should arrange
for someone to bring this up at the next meeting
<Nuitari> membership fee is our main revenue stream
<@scshunt> yeah
<@scshunt> It might be worth doing a "pay what you want" style thing
<@scshunt> this will almost certainly be brought up in the near future to the membership at some point
<@scshunt> obviously if a member didn't pay enough, we wouldn't provide a card or anything
<Nuitari> there is already that for donations
<@scshunt> yes, but the association isn't there
<@scshunt> it's psychology
<Nuitari> yeah I understand that part
<Nuitari> there is also the limit that EC sets
<@scshunt> as to what doesn't count as a contribution
<@scshunt> it's not an actual limit on the fee
<Nuitari> right, after an amount it's a contribution
<@scshunt> IIRC it's max $25/year for up to five years in advance, yes?
<Nuitari> last month we sold, 40 membership (400$), 18 renewing memberships (180$), 355$ of donations, 1 tshirt
(20$), 28 VPN renewals / subscription (280$)
<Nuitari> scshunt: yes
<@scshunt> huh, we actually did have people renew?
<@scshunt> I /never/ got a renewal email
<Nuitari> yeah, and a stream of new members
<@scshunt> the new members are awesome
<@scshunt> Rintaran: do you know how to post on the front page?
<Rintaran> Yeah, it's just a blog entry in the wordpress.
<@scshunt> ah ok
<@scshunt> Rintaran: Any chance you could post my email to it?
<Rintaran> Unfortunately, unless it got fixed, there's no access to the archive.
<Rintaran> Post your e-mail to it?
<Rintaran> Renewing memberships are people who set it up to auto-renew next year. I'm one of those 18 I believe.
<@scshunt> Rintaran: I don't think I can
<Rintaran> You mean get you an account to post on the wordpress?
<@scshunt> I have an account, I don't think I can post to the frontpage
<Rintaran> Can you login to https://www.pirateparty.ca/wp-admin ?
<@scshunt> I should be able to but can't remember the password :/
<Rintaran> I see 15 with access, and you're not on the list.
<@scshunt> ah ok
<@scshunt> well then
<@scshunt> maybe I'm remembering a different page
<@scshunt> anyhow
<Rintaran> I'll set you up.
<@scshunt> ok
<Rintaran> Done.
<Rintaran> I don't recognize most of the users on this list...
<Nuitari> what access level do they have?
<Rintaran> A couple are editors, but most are subscribers (which don't really worry me)
<Rintaran> I think these are some of the original founders though... I remember reading them on an old page in the
Wiki.
<Nuitari> could be
<Nuitari> we should clear up the list
<@scshunt> Rintaran: credentials?
<@scshunt> oh wait, they got emailed
<@scshunt> Nuitari: Do you think anything needs to be done on the VPN side other than set up the URL?
<Rintaran> I figured that was the best way to send it. :)
<Nuitari> scshunt: no, mostly promo web stuff
<Nuitari> eventually getting a server in lithuania or something would be good
<@scshunt> Nuitari: It's still in 'beta' right?
<Nuitari> yeah
<Nuitari> the website should have more details on how we handle data
<Nuitari> also have some self help guides
<Nuitari> though we got some chargeback because a moron couldn't read that it required a jailbreak on the iPad
<@scshunt> lol
<@scshunt> I think Jake will spearhead that
<Nuitari> yeah
<Rintaran> Stephane, have you had any contact with Mikkel? He's disappeared without a trace. Is there any information
or stuff that he has in his possession that we require to move forward with any current projects?
<Nuitari> not particularly
<Nuitari> might be a problem to sign some of the paperwork though
<@scshunt> Don't think so
<@scshunt> signature of old leader not required
<Nuitari> hope so
<Nuitari> but we need to change the leader first then the directors (at least on the paperwork)
<@scshunt> I think you can certify appointment of officers
<@scshunt> all officers actually do from an elections standpoint is certify changes of leadership, don't they?
<Nuitari> let me lookup how we did it in the past
<Nuitari> for a new leader, we need a resolution, by the secretary to appoint a leader, signed by the new leader and
a current officer (that can be me or Rintaran or anyone else that is a director)
<@scshunt> yeah
<@scshunt> officers are the exec board under new constituion, by the way
<Nuitari> http://pr.piratepad.ca/111
<@scshunt> private
<Rintaran> Looks simple enough. It's more or less the same kind of thing I had to sign when I became a director.
<Nuitari> scshunt: what do you mean private?
<Nuitari> Rintaran: do you have it somewhere?
<@scshunt> Nuitari: requires a sign-in
<@scshunt> We can do this easily enough
<Nuitari> for some reason I can't find it
<Nuitari> scshunt: you really shoul dhave an account
<Rintaran> I believe I have a paper copy in my folder with my other official documents.
<@scshunt> I'm concerned that we cannot comply with the act and tell EC that we have myself and ric as directors
<@scshunt> without mikkel
<Nuitari> scshunt: once the new leader is elected, it's much easier to do the rest
<@scshunt> Nuitari: Yes, but 30 day requirement
<@scshunt> we have until about the 20th to inform EC
<Nuitari> you're not officially an officer of the party until we tell them
<@scshunt> no, it doesn't work like that
<@scshunt> (1) Within 30 days after a change in the information on a registered party or an eligible party in the
registry of parties, the party shall, in writing, report the change to the Chief Electoral Officer. The report must
be certified by the leader of the party.
<Nuitari> when will the election of the new leader conclude?
<@scshunt> oh wait, subsection 2
<@scshunt> is confusing
<@scshunt> yeah, I'm not technically an officer
<Nuitari> the elections act is confusing
<@scshunt> at least as far as EC cares
<@scshunt> yeah
<Nuitari> it's a huge mess of very loosely defined guidelines
<Nuitari> EC then adds its own rules and regulations
<Nuitari> and unless someone bitches about something, most of it doesn't really matter, except for the financial
reporting
<@scshunt> true
<Nuitari> that's pretty much what we've been told before and what some of my dealings with their trainers told me
<@scshunt> the election for leader /should/ end February 23rd
<Nuitari> we also get various emails / letters / faxes (usually all 3 being the same) about what we need to produce
<@scshunt> haha
<Nuitari> it's seriously annoying
<Nuitari> oh and the cc the agent and leader on everything
<Nuitari> so I get everything twice
<@scshunt> haha
<Nuitari> in letter form, then the fax, then the email
<Nuitari> the next big thing is our first financial report
<Nuitari> Rintaran: oya
<Rintaran> ?
<Nuitari> Rintaran: my wife agreed to continue doing the bookkeeping for 2012, provided we continue paying her 400$
<Rintaran> I'm fully in favour of that.
<Rintaran> $400 is a very, very reasonable rate.
<@scshunt> yes
<Nuitari> scshunt: you'll need to fill this up to be an officer whenever the letter for appointment is done (the
dates have to match) http://elections.ca/pol/pol/EC20037.pdf
<@scshunt> it would be nice to get as much of a financial update as you can provide
<Nuitari> the books will be done this month
<@scshunt> Nuitari: cool
<@scshunt> a rough update on how much we have, plus any outstanding liabilities?
<Nuitari> no liabilities
<Nuitari> we basically can't borrow without a resolution
<@scshunt> cool
<Nuitari> there is one prepaid credit card on my name also in use by the party
<@scshunt> Rintaran: Can you please approve my post to the website?
<Nuitari> we have 6244$ in cash reserves
<Nuitari> eventually when Mikkel's return if no longer foobared we'll get 1000$ back
<Nuitari> hosting is costing 169$/month which is the most expensive thing for the party
<Nuitari> we received the new printer, waiting on supplies
<@scshunt> printer for what?
<Rintaran> Membership Cards
<@scshunt> ah
<@scshunt> neat
<Nuitari> full bleed printer
<Nuitari> still bugging evolis for Linux drivers
<Nuitari> they have them for their other models
<Nuitari> worst case I'll patch something up through vmware
<Nuitari> I also have to do all the receipts for the VPN
<Nuitari> and that stupid EC software doesn't import data (ewww)
<Nuitari> oooh
<Nuitari> it does now
<Rintaran> Alright guys. I think we need to wrap this up for the evening. I have early work tmw.
<Nuitari> yeah I have an early appointment too
<Nuitari> ttyl
